               The Idaho Dept of Education wants to hear from parents and this is a great FREE way to get your voice heard to be part of the planning for our student’s  education and communication with the Dept of Ed!

Guest Speakers

Jeanne Buschine, Ed.S, M.A.

Jeanne Buschine has been a junior high teacher, elementary school counselor, drug education coordinator & a school counselor supervisor for 30 years.  She has a B.A. in Secondary Ed from Northwest Nazarene University, a M.A. in School & Community Counseling from College of Idaho, & an Educational Specialist degree in Administration from University of Idaho.   Jeanne currently supervises 114 school counselors & social workers in West Ada School District.

Shannon Decker, Executive Director

Shannon Decker is the executive director & co-founder of The Speedy Foundation, holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Idaho & has 10 years of private & public teaching & administrative experience in ID, NV & CA. She is a mental health first aid facilitator who offers trainings in ID & UT to further the foundation’s mission of promoting mental health education and advocating for suicide prevention.

John Foster, Strategist | Lobbyist Kestrel West

John Foster is a strategist, consultant & advisor. He has worked as manager & communications director for national-level campaigns, & continues to advise candidates & corporate executives on political messaging, strategy and crisis communications.He came to politics after a decade as an investigative journalist.

Kate Haas, Attorney | Lobbyist Kestrel West

Kate Haas is a lawyer & lobbyist specializing in legislative & regulatory issues. She is also a community-relations expert with deep experience organizing coalitions and campaigns for both businesses & political operations.

Dawn Tolan, Ed.S, M.S.

Dawn Tolan has a B.A. in Communications from University of Idaho, a M.S. in Counseling from Boise State University, & an Educational Specialist in Administration from University of Idaho.   Dawn has been a junior high & high school counselor & a supervisor of school counselors in both the Boise & West Ada School Districts.   Currently Dawn supervises high school academic counselors, career & college counselors and high school drug prevention counselors in the West Ada School District.
